Volunteer Community Foresters: Tree Planting at Low Skelgill Farm

  • Low Skelgill Farm, Stair, CA12 5UE (map)

Volunteer Community Foresters are meeting with the Raise team to help plant trees at Low Skelgill Farm in Cumbria . This is a practical, hands-on day outdoors focused on maintaining and strengthening last year’s planting.

This session is part of our neuroaffirming Volunteer Community Forester programme. It offers a structured, welcoming space to build skills, spend time outdoors and contribute to long-term woodland creation.

This session is for Volunteer Community Foresters and invited link organisations.

The new woodland creation at Low Skelgill aims to increase biodiversity across the site whilst retaining conservation grazing with small herd of Shetland cattle.

What the day will involve

We’ll meet at the camping barn before walking together to the site, around five minutes away. The session will include a short welcome, clear demonstrations of tasks, supported practical work and time to pause or take breaks as needed.

You can expect:

  • clear guidance and step-by-step demonstrations

  • a steady pace with space to ask questions

  • a small team environment with Raise staff on hand throughout
