About us

Raise is a neurodivergent-led organisation, centring neurodivergent perspectives to help reshape environmental action and support stronger ecosystems and more inclusive communities.

We are reimagining what woodlands can be – more inclusive, more creative, and more connected to how people experience the world.

Through Raise: Cumbria Community Forest, spanning 1,300 square miles and guided by a 25-year vision, we support community-led woodland creation, stewardship, nature-based health work and cultural engagement, offering funding and practical support to make this work happen.

Our vision

Environmental action driven by neurodivergent perspectives builds resilient people and landscapes.

Our mission

We support neurodivergent people to create and care for green spaces, building skills and improving wellbeing whilst creating fairer access to nature.

Raise: Cumbria Community Forest

We are a member of England’s Community Forests. There are 15 Community Forests in England, located in and around our largest towns and cities.

Collectively, the work of the community forests has formed the largest environmental regeneration initiative in England.

For nearly thirty years, Community Forests have delivered urban, economic and social regeneration championing green infrastructure and creating high-quality environments for millions of people.

By planting trees and bringing woodlands back into use for both people and wildlife we provide new opportunities for leisure activities whilst enhancing biodiversity, helping us become more resilient to climate change, improving education and supporting healthy lives.

As well as England’s Community Forest network, we are also part of the Community Forest Trust, a national registered charity.
