Volunteer day: Woodland Maintenance at Parkview

  • Lesh Lane Barrow-in-Furness, England, LA13 United Kingdom (map)

Join Raise for a practical volunteer day helping do some site maintenance at Parkview Fields, Barrow-in-Furness. This is a practical, hands-on day outdoors focused on maintaining and strengthening the young woodland on site.

Our volunteer days are open to everyone, and follow a neuro-affirming approach to create a welcoming experience for all. Spaces are limited to support this approach - please sign up in advance following the guidance further down this page.

This session is part of our neuroaffirming volunteer programme. It offers a structured, welcoming space to build skills, spend time outdoors and contribute to long-term woodland creation.

What the day will involve

We will focus on vegetation control to reduce competition faced by the young trees on site, and try a creative nature-based activity. The session will include a short welcome, clear demonstrations of tasks, supported practical work and time to pause or take breaks as needed.

You can expect:

  • clear guidance and step-by-step demonstrations

  • a steady pace with space to ask questions

  • a small team environment with Raise staff on hand throughout

Practical information

Meeting point: An exact meeting point will be emailed to all registered volunteers.

Facilities: Toilets are not available on site, but are available a 10 minute walk from the site.

What to bring: Packed lunch, water bottle, waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear suitable for uneven ground.
